About

Melaleuca Grove rainbow wide leg jumpsuit Nicola BrittonI would firstly like to acknowledge the Turrbal and Yuggera people, the Traditional Custodians of the land in which I live and work. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging and I extend my respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia.

Welcome! Melaleuca Grove was founded by colour lover and all around dork Nicola (me!) in 2021.  Like many mumtrepreneurs, my inspiration for Melaleuca Grove came after welcoming our first child. Prompting my mother's return to our home town, we began sewing together to reconnect. At the heart of it, was a mutual love of bright + beautiful quilting fabrics + patterns.

I began sewing clothes for my kids + with the advent of Instagram a whole new world of makers opened up. Having toiled as a marketer in law firms for decades, I've always loved shaking up glum and grey corporate attire with bold colours + edgy garments + accessories. But it was when my design was chosen the most popular and won the Kasey Rainbow x Little Party Dress Design a Print competition in 2019 that truly awakened my calling.

Wanting to combine the chance to spend more time with our young family with a passion for my next adventure, a new creative purpose was born + so too was Melaleuca Grove.

What's in a Name

The name Melaleuca Grove spawns from the 'grove I grew up in and the fact that many homes our family have resided had a paperbark prominently positioned out front. (My sisters and I were often found stripping the bark to write vintage style notes.) When homesick overseas, I would often recall the distinctive aroma of paddocks back home engulfed in honey blossoms and+ tea tree oil.

Integrity first

From suppliers to collaborations to the garments MG produce, I work hard to ensure I always maintain honesty + uphold the Grove's founding principles.

As a small business, I know the struggle to get up and running so we will never rip off another artist. I pay what work + supplies are worth. Where I can use a sustainable option, even if it's a little more expensive, I do. I also value clear communication, so you will always know your expectations will be not only met, but I hope exceeded!

Small runs

Have you ever shown up somewhere in the same outfit as someone else? While it's not that big a deal, I prefer my customers stand out for being unique. Small runs means MG garments maintain their exclusivity + unique quality. It also means I can communicate one on one with customers and never compromise my commitment to sustainability, ethics + integrity, especially for profit alone.

Local

We have such a wonderful community of artists in Australia. I am so proud to be supporting our local artists + creative industries because supporting local means putting money back into the communities we live in. Plus, you get unique, one of a kind prints!

Sustainable

Our world is suffocating in microplastics. No really, Google it. Fashion is the second biggest polluting industry aside from oil. While pursuing my dream, I didn't want to add to the problem. Read all about our commitment to sustainability here.
